Mining (Proof-of-Work)
Find blocks through Proof-of-Work and receive 50% of each block's reward — the newly minted VAR coins plus the transaction fees from every transaction in the block.
Participate
Monetarium is decentralised: anyone can earn from the network by mining blocks, or running a node and staking Varta (VAR) — sharing in block rewards and the transaction-fee flow of the economies it powers.
How you earn
Find blocks through Proof-of-Work and receive 50% of each block's reward — the newly minted VAR coins plus the transaction fees from every transaction in the block.
Run a Monetarium network node and stake VAR coins. Nodes share the other 50% of every block reward in proportion to the VAR they stake — VAR coins function as shares in the network.
Because rewards include transaction fees from every VAR and SKA transfer, participants earn a percentage of the monetary flow of national economies that use Monetarium — much like a payment network such as VISA, but decentralised and open to anyone.

A buyback campaign for miners
We buy back part of the miner's reward for blocks mined inside a published range. The terms, the dates and the claim form are on one page.

Run a full Monetarium node (hybrid PoW/PoS) and participate in mining, staking, and governance. Four steps below: check the requirements, run the one-line installer, confirm the node is running, and add a GPU miner.
A modern multi-core machine with room to grow the chain.
Pick the command for your platform and paste it into a terminal.
Each command downloads and runs the official installer from the Monetarium GitHub(opens in new tab).
One command reports the node's health.
Expect a block height, a connection count above zero, and an empty errors field. Verification, logs and troubleshooting for Linux and macOS are covered in the Quick Start guide(opens in new tab).
Mine on the node you just installed. A solo stratum pool passes the node's work to a GPU miner and sends the blocks it solves back to the node.
The node serves no work while it mines by itself. If you answered Yes to CPU mining in step 02, set generate=false in ~/.monetarium/monetarium.conf and restart the node.
Expect false.
The pool logs in with the node's RPC user and password. This command copies them from the node's config into a file only you can read, and lets only this machine connect to the pool.
Run each in its own terminal, from the monetarium-stratum folder.
The miner lists your cards by number when it starts. For a second card, start another miner with --user worker1 --device 1. Services, CUDA and the pool's settings are covered in the monetarium-stratum README(opens in new tab).
